Who actually makes Courteney boots? Well here they are:
Three members of the Gumede family, brothers Temba (left) and Nhlanhla (right) and Nhlanhla’s son, Nkosi.
Jabulani and his son, Lytton.
Misheck, Themba, Enock and Edward
Khumbuzani, Nicholas and Cuthbert
And let’s hear it for the girls: Courteney management is 100% women. No glass ceiling here!!
We all make a good team, and together we’ve managed to weather economic collapse and a Covid year.
We don’t like waste. There are some local craftsmen who come each week to sort through our off-cuts which would otherwise go in the dustbin man’s truck. From these they will make leather small-goods like wallets and patchwork belts, and we’ve even seen a complete leather jacket. All of which amounts to food on a few more tables.
Anti-poaching teams, patrols and rangers need good strong boots – we provide these widely at a discounted price. We wish we could give them for free, but we’re too little.
