My Courteney Adventure:
Kariba Walk - David Lemon
Overweight, unfit and by his own admission far too old, Lemon walked alone through 1200 kilometres of the wild Zambezi Valley of Northern Zimbabwe. Despite numerous close encounters with dangerous wild life and unfriendly officialdom, he kept his sense of humour and in the process of achieving his goal, conquered the personal demons that affect so many adventurers. Exciting, poignant and fast-paced, his story will appeal to anyone who dares to dream in our increasingly plastic world. When he writes about life in the African bush, David Lemon has few equals and this book will stir the heartstrings of everyone who cares about the continent and its wild life. Read More

So it was that I abandoned my plans to walk bare foot or in rafters and dug out my Courteney Boots, almost as venerable as myself comparatively speaking and old friends on many a bush trip. A coating of dubbin, a quick polish and the Courteneys and I were ready to roll or as ready as either of us was likely to be.
